watching the road

Our road in front of our house is being worked on this morning. Ryan has been going out and sitting on our steps just watching the trucks and the work take place. He just sits quietly and watches! He loves to watch big trucks and tractors at work, I guess every boy does. He even talked Caroline into coming out and watching for awhile. This was so interesting to him.

Great Wolf Lodge

We went to Great Wolf Lodge for two days this week for Caroline's early Birthday getaway and for one last summer fun activity before school starts! This place is so much fun! Great Wolf Lodge is a hotel with a waterpark inside the hotel. The hotel is made for kiddos. We arrived and were ready for the waterpark at 2 pm on Monday and we played until 8:30 that night. We did not stop for food or drinks. We just played. Caroline went down every slide, even the Howling Tornado with Steve. Ryan went down every slide but the Howling Tornado and that was because we was too short to ride. Ryan would go down, get off, wait for me, and then we would climb back up to the top and ride the water slide back down. The kids went to story time at 9 that night and then had dinner and were asleep within a minute of turning off the lights. The next morning we did it all over again. We were at the waterpark at 11 am and stayed until 6 pm. Again with no breaks for food. It was a great time!

Taking care of babies

Caroline and Ryan have had a great summer, full of adventure and activities! They also enjoyed many days in and around the house. On this particular day they had played house all day and were taking care of these two babies. Caroline talks Ryan into playing what she wants to play, but Ryan will do anything for his big sister and seems to have fun! They took care of these babies by feeding them, taking them to the grocery store, and then having quiet time by watching a movie and resting. I just had to take a picture.

Sparklers at the beach

Our last night at the beach! Ryan fell asleep in the car on the way home from dinner and missed his last ice cream and sparklers. He was asleep by 7 pm and did not wake up until the next morning. Caroline enjoyed the sparklers with Gee Gee and Daddy. She was a bit nervous at first, but in all had a good time! The next morning we got up early and said good bye to Gee Gee, Papa Ron, Caroline, and Ryan. They were on their way to Charlotte. Caroline and Ryan spent the next week with all their cousins, Aunts, Uncle Wes, and Grammy. They were off on another summer adventure!

Bethany Beach

We went to Bethany Beach during the first week in August and we all had a great time! The waves were rough and the water was cold, but the kids still had fun. The waves were so rough that it knocked Gayle, Steve, and myself down and we lost 3 sunglasses and a hat during our week. We played hard during the day and ate well at night! It was so much fun to play at the house and Steve and I enjoyed riding bikes around the neighborhood. We all love the beach so much.

Bethany Beach part 2

Here are a few more pictures from the beach. Ryan is eating his sushi at dinner one night! We ate at Attractions twice and the sushi was out of this world. Ryan and Caroline are big fans for the California Roll and edamame. Everyone loved the Sushi that night and then we walked down the boardwalk and tried Bacon Ice Cream (would not recommend) and stopped for a yummy crepe on Penny Lane. Ryan and Caroline had a super week at the beach and they enjoyed being with Gee Gee and Papa Ron so much! A week at the beach goes by so fast!

Ice Cream in a cone is a special treat for Caroline and Ryan. It is so messy and I do not like the mess, so our rule stands that we have Ice Cream in a cup during the school year and Ice Cream in a cone at the beach! They had Ice Cream every night!
