Going on a rocket ship

Ryan was playing this evening in his room and was using a rolled up shade as his rocket ship. He told Caroline that he could not play with her because he was going on his rocket ship to outer space. While taking this video, he really wanted to see what I was recording and needed some reminders that he could see the video later. Enjoy!

Our grown up living room

Well, as many of you know, I have little talent in the area of decorating. I have ideas but get stuck so many times and question myself so much that I finally give up and think maybe I will try again another year! Well this must be my year! I have always admired both of my sister's taste in decorating, and Carol told me about Pier 1. (great things at a great price) I started with buying some new pillows (target) for two couches. I did not like these couches before the pillows, but now they can stay around for another few years. Then I bought a mirror for the wall, a tree for the room, a new lamp and then decided to rearrange all the furniture in the room. HeHe I made Steve move our piano to the living room where it deserves to be. Wow! We have a grown up room! I have always admired others for being able to decorate their homes, this was a difficult task for me, but I feel pretty good about how it turned out!

One Summer Day

Caroline has been going to camp this week and is loving every minute! She is having a good time being out of the house and with children her own age. Ryan has enjoyed having some time by himself and being with Mommy and Daddy! We only have a few more days until we head to the beach in Delaware! Yeah!

American History Museum

We went to the American History Museum in Washington, D.C. today! We took the metro into town and Ryan shared on the way home that riding the metro was his favorite part of the day! Caroline enjoyed the museum and said her favorite part was seeing the Teenage Mutant Ninga Turtle. Maybe one day they will say something like learning so much about the history of our country, or the dresses of our first lady's, but for now it is a subway ride and a scary turtle!

Here is Caroline and Ryan on the metro!

Looking at the dollhouse.
Finding Oscar the Grouch!

American History Museum part 2

Here are a few more pictures from the American History museum today!

Do you see Caroline's name in spatulas behind her?

Pinwheel fun!

Ryan loved all the trains, but refused to take a picture with his sister. So Caroline took her own picture with a different train.

Dance Party

The dance party started out really sweet! The kids were slow dancing together and twirling so sweetly, oh they looked like two perfectly behaved children. Then their evil twins took over and their dancing became wild! That of course is when I was able to pick up the camera and record their dancing. Caroline threw Ryan on the ground at the end, but he picked himself up and started dancing again, not one tear. They giggled and ran/danced all over for another 10 minutes until they both ran out of steam!

Dinner and a rain shower

It was nice this evening so we decided to eat our dinner outside on the deck! There was little humidity, a nice breeze, and the temperature was comfortable. Perfect weather we thought. After the kids started eating it started to drizzle, then it started to pour. It was so much fun to sit under the umbrella trying to stay dry! What a fun way to have a summer dinner!

Beach July 2009

We had a great time at the beach this past week! The weather was perfect and the kids stayed in the water or on the sand most of the week! Ryan is now a dare devil and runs out to try to catch his sister. The waves did not scare him a bit. Caroline always loves the water and wants to go as far out as possible. She loves the beach and never is ready to go home. Our beach house was only two blocks away, which was a long enough walk for all of us after so much sun and water each day! Mom had lunch ready and waiting on us when we returned from the beach and then we relaxed a bit! The water in South Caroline is much warmer then Delaware and not as much sand ends up going home with you too! It was a super fast week!

Cousins

We went to the beach everyday with our cousins. They loved playing together in the sand and trying to catch up with one another in the water. In the afternoons, Caroline would gather a few cousins together and do a craft. They made magnets for the fridge, necklaces, and worked in coloring books. On the last night we brought out the glow sticks and everyone had a good time playing with their glow sticks while sitting in the dark. Even Grammy, the aunts, and uncle Wes joined in. We made cupcakes one night and went out for ice cream. This will be a trip Caroline and Ryan will remember for the rest of their lives. I think all the cousins had a super week!

North Myrtle Beach

I saw this done in a catalog for Pottery Barn or Crate and Barrel. This was hanging over a sofa in the living room. I thought to myself that I can do that. I am thinking about getting it copied on canvas and having it framed. I love all the foot prints that are under our name. What do you think? You know I have no decorating sense and I need as much help as possible. But I think it would be neat to have it framed and place somewhere in the house.
