A Green Snack

Caroline's homework assignment tonight was to bring in a green snack for St. Patrick's Day tomorrow. The Kindergarten classes are planning on having a green snack buffet tomorrow. I was talking to a teacher friend and asking what should we prepare? I had thought of cucumbers or pickles, trying to think outside the typical box of green apples and green grapes. She suggested Apple Jack Cereal and to let Caroline separate the green ones from the orange ones. This would allow her to help with her snack. I thought this sounded great! So I went to the store and picked up two big boxes of Apple Jacks. Caroline and Ryan loved sorting and eating the cereal. It was interesting to find that there are many more orange ones than green ones. After sorting two large boxes we had a half gallon bag full. She is excited about her snack! I hope all the kindergartners appreciate all the hard work that went into having some green cereal for snack!

Playing all day!

Today Caroline and Ryan played in the basement. It was a rainy day so we decided to move the furniture and put up their tent and tunnel. They had a blast! Every train Ryan owns was placed in the tent and Caroline took her stuffed animals in and played with them. The tunnel was fun too! They loved to climb through it and end up in the tent. They always have a good time playing with their tent and tunnel!

Green eggs and ham again!

For dinner tonight Caroline had Green eggs and ham again! She loved them so much last night she decided she wanted it for dinner again tonight. She said I love green eggs and ham on a boat, in a box with a fox, in a house with a mouse, I like green eggs and ham in the dark. That is all she can remember from the book! I hope she remembers eating green eggs and ham. I do not remember much from my childhood, but I remember where I was when I had my first serving of green eggs and ham. I remember the chair I was sitting in and the colors of paint on the wall. I was in 3 year old preschool! Those were the days!

Green eggs and ham

Today was Dr. Seuss's birthday!

To celebrate we made green eggs and ham for dinner.
Caroline and Ryan liked it and said they would eat it again. Caroline said it tasted just like regular eggs. She ate everything on her plate. Ryan ate some and then wanted yogurt.
We are now off to take baths and read a few Dr. Seuss books before calling it a day!

Here are a few pictures of the snow from our front window and our back porch!

Painting Ryan's Room

Steve and I decided to paint Ryan's room on Saturday! We picked up the paint and started. Caroline and Ryan watched movies in our room while we painted and would come and see our progress every few minutes. Caroline and Ryan wanted to paint too, so we gave them one wall and said, "go for it!" They were bored after a few brush strokes. Steve thinks both kids must take after him when it comes to painting. He hates painting. I do not care to paint, but I love the end results!
We worked very hard and in about 5 hours the room was painted.

Caroline painting.

Ryan painting.

These vaulted ceiling were a killer to the arms.

Ryan's Room before and after

Here is the before picture of Ryan's room.

Here is the after picture!

Ryan kept saying my room is blue, my room is blue, I like blue!

I still have the curtains to hang and some shelves to hang up as well. We will take another picture of the completed project soon.

Tracing Feet

Sometime during our painting project. Caroline and Ryan ended up on the main level and got out the markers. Caroline decided Ryan needed his feet traced! She traced his feet on paper and the markers were only on the paper and Ryan's feet. The traced feet on the paper were very nice, but we knew they had been up to something when we saw Ryan's feet.
Take a close look at Ryan's feet!
He has several blue toes!

Roller Skating

Roller Skating Fun!
Caroline and Steve went outside yesterday morning to skate! Caroline found these skates in the closet and begged to skate. She was dressed and ready to go outside by 9 AM. These skates go over your shoes and are harder to roll on then regular roller skates. She loved skating after she got the hang of it. After sometime she was cold and Steve made her hot chocolate. They sat on the steps outside and had their hot chocolate together. Note to Santa, Caroline would like a pair of real roller skates for Christmas!
